Expense Splitter

A private tool that helps one couple split shared expenses.

What it does

Expense Splitter reads a household's bank transactions through SimpleFIN, lets each partner mark which of their own charges were shared, and keeps a running balance of who owes whom. It emails each partner a short daily summary, a note when their partner shares an expense, and a monthly statement.

Why it asks for Gmail access

Those emails are the whole interface — every link a partner uses arrives by mail. The app sends them from its owner's own Gmail account, so it requests the single Google permission https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.send.

That permission allows sending only. It does not allow reading, changing or deleting any message, and the app never attempts to. Details are in the privacy policy.

Who it is for

Two people. It is not a product, it is not offered to the public, and there is nothing to sign up for. It runs on a personal computer, and its data never leaves that machine except as the emails described above.
